SHADE Institute has been collaborating with Waipa Week 4 highlighting SHADE Institute’s work to prepare Honolulu’s Chinatown for the rail station coming in 2031 and the larger Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Plan.

Learn more about what SHADE and other firms have been working on SHADE Institute is proud to announce that we are one of the recipients of the Docomomo US 2024 Modernism in America Awards for a Commercial Design Citation of Merit, for our adaptive and modern restoration of King Liberty Center. 

Originally designe On August 6th the second Riverwalk Community Design Workshop was held at Halewai’olu Senior Residences. During the workshop Fellows introduced two design concepts for future development.

Concept 1: Rebuild and Revitalize
